Abstract

Abstract :  This study aims to examine how historical thinking skills from Thomas Lickona's perspective can be applied to build students' character education in the modern era. The problem addressed is how to integrate historical thinking skills as an effective strategy in developing students' character amid social and technological changes. The research method used is a literature review with a systematic analysis of scientific sources discussing the concept of historical thinking, Thomas Lickona's character education theory, and its relevance in today's educational context. The findings show that strengthening historical thinking skills can enhance students' moral understanding through the processes of moral knowing, moral feeling, and moral behavior as proposed by Lickona, thus enabling holistic and adaptive character education. These findings are important because they provide a conceptual foundation for educators and policymakers to develop curricula and teaching methods that emphasize critical and historical thinking skills in shaping students' character in the modern era.
