Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of Islamic Religious Education and Character Education (PAI-BP) in shaping the religious character of students at SMPN 8 Bandar Lampung. The background of this study departs from the phenomenon of weakening religious values ????among adolescents due to the influence of globalization, social media, and lifestyle changes. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis is done through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results show that the implementation of religious character education is carried out through four main strategies, namely learning (teaching) with the integration of religious values ????in PAI-BP materials, modeling from teachers and educational staff, reinforcement through habituation activities such as congregational prayer, tadarus, and commemoration of Islamic holidays, as well as habituation in the school environment that supports religious behavior. Supporting factors include the active role of teachers, school support, and parental involvement, while inhibiting factors include the lack of consistency of students in carrying out habits outside of school. This study concludes that Islamic Religious Education (PAI-BP) significantly contributes to shaping students' religious character, although synergy between schools, families, and the community is still needed to strengthen the results.
